Statkraft’s Energy Transition and Trading Conference returns to London
The annual conference saw over 200 attendees from across the industry come together to debate the energy transition in the UK and the big issues facing the sector
Statkraft, a leading provider of renewable trading services and long-term income guarantees, welcomed more than 200 figures from across the industry to its annual Energy Transition and Trading Conference, held in London.
This year’s conference saw debates on opportunities and challenges of green hydrogen, the next steps in energy storage and flexibility, the reality of corporate PPAs in the GB market, positioning companies for the next ten years, and tackling the big issues facing the energy sector. These were covered in five different panel sessions, chaired by experts from the Statkraft team, and with contributions from key industry players, including Statera Energy, DNV, Protium, Nadara, Gorse Street and others.
Statkraft’s London-based markets team is the UK’s leading renewables trader, with 7 GW of third-party renewable and flex generation under contract. More widely, Statkraft is one of the largest traders in the European energy market, with over 20 GW under contract.
Duncan Dale, Statkraft’s VP of Origination in the UK, said: “We’re pleased to have once again convened many of the key players in the sector for our annual Energy Transition and Trading Conference, which has now cemented itself as a key event in the industry calendar, and shows that there’s a huge appetite to discuss and debate the opportunities and challenges we face.
“As an industry we speak with one voice about the need to accelerate and complete the energy transition in the UK. Enabling that transition means a need for innovative products and services providing a route to market for new renewable technologies. This is where Statkraft stands out. There’s also still a huge desire for face-to-face events like this, which allow the sharing of ideas and the opportunity to make connections outside the conference room. I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year.”
